Company Description AirWorks is a leading automated field intelligence company that uses AI to streamline infrastructure design and maintenance. The organization serves top engineering and telecommunications firms by rapidly delivering accurate real-world data from the field. AirWorks extracts critical insights from diverse geospatial data sources, including imagery and LiDAR, helping clients work faster and more efficiently.

Role Description AirWorks is seeking a highly capable Full Stack Software Engineer to build and maintain scalable, high-quality web applications using NodeJS, React, and TypeScript. This role works closely with a US-based engineering team, along with design and QA, to deliver customer-facing features with a strong emphasis on quality, performance, and maintainability.

Our platform includes spatial data and mapping workflows, so candidates with GIS or geospatial experience are a strong plus.

Full Stack Development:

  • Design, develop, and maintain full stack features using NodeJS, React, and TypeScript
  • Build and consume RESTful APIs with a focus on performance and reliability
  • Implement responsive, accessible UI components with high fidelity to product designs and UX standards
  • Collaborate with Product and Technical Product Managers to clarify requirements and edge cases

Backend & API Development

  • Develop scalable backend services using NodeJS
  • Design and maintain data models, business logic, and API contracts
  • Ensure security, performance, and reliability across backend services
  • Write unit and integration tests to validate backend functionality

Frontend Development

  • Build modern React applications using TypeScript and best practices (hooks, state management, component architecture)
  • Translate designs into high-quality, high-fidelity user interfaces
  • Optimize frontend performance and ensure cross-browser compatibility

Engineering Excellence

  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code across the stack
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to shared engineering standards
  • Collaborate with QA on test planning, bug fixes, and release readiness
  • Identify and reduce technical debt while improving system reliability

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work effectively with a distributed US-based team through clear documentation and async communication
  • Participate in sprint planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Communicate progress, blockers, and risks clearly via Jira and team channels

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech.) in Computer Science or a related field, with 3+ years of professional experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer.
  • Proven experience developing with AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or agentic workflows) and getting real leverage from them without sacrificing code quality
  • Strong experience with NodeJS, React, and TypeScript in production environments
  • Experience building and consuming APIs (REST preferred)
  • Proficiency with modern frontend tooling and build systems
  • Solid understanding of relational (SQL/PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases
  • Experience with Git-based workflows and Jira
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Comfortable working with distributed teams across time zones

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

AI / LLM

  • Experience building or integrating AI/LLM features into product, including API integration, prompt design, and reliably handling model outputs
  • Understanding of AI/ML concepts relevant to software engineering: embeddings, vector search, RAG, function calling, and evaluation strategies
  • Familiarity with vector databases (pgvector, Pinecone, Weaviate, or similar)
  • Experience fine-tuning, evaluating, or deploying ML models in production

GIS / Geospatial

  • Experience working with spatial data, maps, or geolocation services
  • Familiarity with tools such as PostGIS, ESRI, GeoJSON, Mapbox, Leaflet, or similar

Infrastructure & Practices

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Understanding of performance optimization and security best practices

Working Hours & Flexibility

This role requires a 3–4 hour daily overlap with US Eastern Time. In practice, this means availability through roughly the late evening IST (e.g., until ~10:00 PM IST / 12:30 PM ET). The candidate should be comfortable with occasional early-morning or late-evening meetings to support cross-team collaboration.

Success Metrics

  • High-quality features delivered on time and aligned with acceptance criteria
  • Low defect rates and minimal rework during QA and UAT
  • Positive feedback from Engineering, Product, Design, and QA teams on collaboration
  • Well-tested, maintainable code across frontend and backend
  • Consistent contribution to sprint goals and team initiatives
