About Fram Energy

Fram Energy is a New York-based startup making solar work for tenant-occupied buildings. Our platform enables landlords to benefit financially from solar energy while delivering savings to tenants and unlocking access to clean energy in rental housing.
We’re backed by the U.S. Department of Energy and were featured in Forbes as a top climate startup to watch. Our work lives at the intersection of energy, real estate, and technology.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a Front-End Engineering Intern to help build our tech stack and improve one of the most important features in our product. You’ll be working on a dashboard where property owners enter building information and get back custom solar projections. That includes project specs, cash flow breakdowns, and estimated investment returns, all driven by real utility and performance data.
You’ll collaborate with our engineers and product leads to turn complex back-end outputs into clean, responsive interfaces. This dashboard is the main way users interact with what we’ve built, so it needs to be fast, clear, and easy to navigate. If you’re excited about climate tech, care about useful building tools, and enjoy the challenge of designing for real-world use, we’d love to have you on our team.

Responsibilities

Develop and refine front-end features for Fram’s internal tools and customer dashboards built with Next.js and React
Build from scratch a web-based interface where users can input building data and see dynamic financial results (underlying model already exists)
Implement responsive, accessible designs from mockups and real-world user behavior
Collaborate with the broader team (engineers, founder, ops, sales)
Present your work and recommendations regularly to the full team

What We’re Looking For

Fluency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Familiarity with front-end frameworks
Experience building dashboards, forms, or interactive front-end tools
Strong attention to detail and a user-first design mindset
Clear communicator, comfortable documenting workflows and product decisions
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-moving team
Interest in energy, infrastructure, housing, or climate tech

Bonus

Experience with Git, Figma, or design systems
Exposure to APIs, back-end integration, or simple full-stack development
Interest in data visualization or translating complex data into a simple UI
Background or interest in energy modeling, financial tools, or utility data

Why Join Fram Energy?

At Fram Energy, you’ll have the chance to shape real solutions for one of the most overlooked segments in the clean energy space, rental housing. This isn’t a back-seat internship. You’ll be part of the team building tools that help property owners and tenants access solar in places it’s never reached before.
You’ll work where climate tech meets housing, policy, and real-world implementation. Whether you’re running models, writing code, or shaping product ideas, your work will support active solar projects and real users. We move fast, collaborate often, and give interns room to contribute meaningfully. If you’re looking to do work that’s technically interesting, socially important, and built for real impact. Then Fram Energy is the place to do it.
