About the role

We are seeking an Interim Assistant Controller to step into a high-impact role supporting our accounting operations during a critical transition period. This individual will take ownership of key accounting functions and lead our 2025 audit through completion.

This is a hands-on role overseeing a two-person accounting team, working closely with and reporting into the Sr. Finance Director, and ensuring continuity across core processes.

Location: Downtown Boston (3–4 days/week)

Start: ASAP

Term: 4–12 weeks (with potential to convert to full-time)


Top Priorities

  • Successfully lead and complete the 2025 audit by June 15, 2026
  • Ensure continuity and accuracy across revenue recognition and monthly close
  • Manage AR collections and escalation workflows
  • Maintain strong coordination with external auditors and advisors

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the 2025 audit (prep complete; audit in progress as of mid-March 2026)
  • Own the full revenue recognition cycle, including invoicing, rev rec, and deferred revenue
  • Oversee AR collections escalations in partnership with regional account managers and legal
  • Own key components of the monthly close, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Drive US tax historical reconciliation in partnership with external consulting firm (Aprio)
  • Identify and reduce manual processes through systems, integrations, and automation
  • Support the development and enhancement of internal controls
  • Lead and execute across ad hoc accounting and finance initiatives as needed

Environment

  • NetSuite ERP (fully implemented)
  • Multi-entity (US + UK), multi-currency operations
  • SaaS subscription revenue model
  • Established close processes and fully functional accounting team

What You Bring

Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • SaaS experience
  • Strong NetSuite experience
  • Prior experience leading or contributing meaningfully to an audit

Nice to Have

  • Experience in multi-entity, international environments
  • Experience stepping into transitional or interim roles
  • Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
