HARDWARE PRODUCT MANAGER

Overview
We are seeking an Hardware & Systems Engineer to take full ownership of our hardware lifecycle from innovation and testing in the lab to ensuring deployments leave our facilities fully install-ready for client sites.
You will:
- Play a key role in maintaining secure, efficient systems, collaborating across teams, and helping us scale critical infrastructure that supports both development and production environments.
- Partner closely with software, materials, marketing, sales, and customer experience teams to deliver integrated product experiences and go-to-market readiness.
- Act as the central point of contact between internal teams and external partners for all product-related decisions.
- Support vendor selection and evaluation, focusing on capability, innovation, and cost efficiency.
- Drive joint development efforts, ensuring alignment across internal and external stakeholders.
- Partner with quality engineering and compliance teams to manage risk assessments, regulatory approvals, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure high product reliability and adherence to global standards (FCC, CE, UL, etc.).
- Monitor product performance post-launch and drive iterative improvements based on customer feedback and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Site Planning & Coordination
- Conduct site surveys to recommend placement of turnstiles, gateways, and sensors.
- Plan layouts, cable routes, and power supply locations.
- Prepare basic drawings, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Coordinate with clients and third-party vendors for smooth installations.
- Verify third-party readiness before scheduling delivery and installation.
Installation & Setup
- Support installation of turnstiles and RF gateways, including LV power, ACS panels, cables, and card readers.
- Deploy and configure smart badges and wearables on-site.
- Ensure proper delivery routing and site access for equipment setup.
- Travel to customer sites up to 50% in the US or globally.
RF System Configuration
- Set up and maintain LoRaWAN, BLE, RFID, NFC, and networking equipment.
- Test and troubleshoot sensors and gateways for reliable data transmission.
- Use tools like PuTTY, Tera Term, and FileZilla for remote access and log retrieval.
Validate wireless hardware performance in lab and field environments.
Hardware Development & Testing*
Support prototyping, testing, and refinement of current and new hardware systems.
Provide structured feedback to improve hardware reliability and integration.
Assist in ensuring device interoperability with software platforms.
Customer Enablement
- Onboard and train customers using standardized templates.
- Offer on-site and remote support to ensure smooth system adoption.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Hardware or Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience in hardware development, network administration, and hardware integration.
- Hands-on experience with routing/switching hardware (Juniper, Cisco, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of network protocols, VLANs, firewalls, and diagnostics.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as vSphere or VMware.
- Familiarity with secure access protocols like SSH, GPO, SFTP, and SSO.
- Proficiency in managing systems within Debian or UNIX environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Comfortable working independently and collaborating in fast-paced, cross-functional teams.
