Who We Are

Volca is an AI startup building the future of sales operations for the home services industry (home services are the people that come fix stuff at your house/apartment like the air conditioning, lighting or plumbing).

Our customers are your local mom and pop HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) shop that's just looking to run their business a little more efficiently. We're intensely focused on building products that benefit everyone involved primarily the technicians at these small businesses. These guys (and gals sometimes) are focused on providing their homeowners a great experience while making a living to support their families. We either want to make that living larger or make their lives easier and in some cases both!

We currently sit at the intersection of lead generation and customer communication, and we’re looking for a talented engineer to bring in as engineer #4 to work primarily on our front end design and implementation.

This summer we closed a $5.5M seed round led by Pathlight Ventures, MetaProp, GTMFund, and Recall Capital, with participation from founders/execs from Ramp, Gusto, Scale AI, Plaid, Branch.io, Figma, and Stripe

About the role

As a founding engineer at Volca, you’ll be key in designing and building the full-stack features of our AI-powered mobile/web applications. Additionally, you’ll have a hand in just about everything we do as a company early on. You’ll visit customers, hop on calls, attend tradeshows, and much more.

This role is meant for someone that’s eager to learn and fired up to tackle the unknown.

Experience shipping production React Native mobile applications is the core requirement.

What you’d do

• Try to craft code that passes Gavin (FE) and Cesario (BE) with no comments
• Help us figure out how to build product for a market historically deeply under served by the tech world
• Handle Jack's extremely vague problem statements and be given the latitude to solve them how you see fit
• Be present in our slack channels with all our customers and get on calls for product feedback frequently
• (Not tell Mike that we couldn't fit him into a bullet point)

Core Requirements

• Experience shipping production React Native mobile applications is a gap in our team currently
• Worked on prior projects where you interfaced with back-end engineers to build a full-stack solution
• Ability to work 5x a week in person in our Tribeca office

To reiterate, this role is ONLY HIRING in-person in our NYC office.

What you’d get

• Base salary will be based on experience and in the range of $160k-$200k, combined with founding hire equity
