Founding Product Marketer @ Volca

The industry

Home services run the country. HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractors keep homes heated, cooled, and running, and most of them got into the trade because they love the work itself: being in the field, solving problems with their hands, taking care of customers.

But as these businesses grow, the people running them spend more and more of their time behind a desk. Payroll, commissions, invoices, and job costs all end up in spreadsheets, and the owners and operators who’d rather be in the field get buried in Excel trying to understand their own business.

Volca exists to change that. We take the back-office work off their plate so they can get back to running and growing their business. That has always been our north star, and always will be.

About Volca

Volca builds AI agents that run the back office for home service businesses across the country. Our customers are contractors doing millions to hundreds of millions in revenue.

We started with payroll and commissions. The weekly process that used to take a shop’s payroll lead hours of exports, spreadsheets, and mistakes now takes minutes. Since then we’ve launched AP automation, job costing, and more, with new products attaching to existing customers almost as fast as we ship them. Our customers include multi-location operators, franchise networks, and large private-equity-backed platforms.

Content and social proof have always been among our best growth channels. A founder-written newsletter for home service operators has driven a large share of our inbound pipeline, and those inbound deals are the easiest we close. Now we need someone who can own that engine full time.

Where we’re at

We’ve raised $10M in seed funding from top tier investors, and are on a path to hit 8 figures in revenue in early 2027.

We work in-person every day out of a spacious office in Gramercy. Over the next 6 months we plan to invest across every part of the team to keep our early momentum going.

The role

You’ll be Volca’s first marketing hire. The founding team has early success with content, positioning, etc., but we need someone to own this function and make it their own. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role. You’ll write, ship, and measure the work yourself, working directly with the founders.

What you’ll own

  • Newsletter. Write and ship it every week without fail. Grow subscribers, improve open and click rates, and tie it to pipeline and upsells.

  • Product positioning and launches. Messaging for payroll, AP, job costing, and whatever ships next. Launch plans, release notes, and product update emails to existing customers.

  • Customer proof. Case studies, testimonials, and video stories from operators who use Volca. Social proof is what sells in this market.

  • LinkedIn and Meta. Run the company’s LinkedIn and Meta accounts.

  • Website. Own messaging and pages on volca.ai as products and verticals expand.

  • Events. Content for the conferences we attend and, later, events we host: booth messaging, follow-up sequences, and recap content.

  • Marketing tooling. Build and run the workflows and automations behind all of the above.

Who you are

  • You have 1–3 years in B2B SaaS product marketing or content marketing, ideally at an early-stage startup.

  • You still do the work yourself. You write the newsletter, build the materials, and ship the launch email.

  • You’re a strong, clear writer who can make a technical product simple for a business owner who doesn’t care about software.

  • You’ve positioned and launched products, and you can show the before and after.

  • You’ve grown an owned channel such as a newsletter, blog, or LinkedIn presence, and you can tie it to pipeline.

  • You can learn a blue-collar industry fast. Experience in vertical SaaS, home services, ServiceTitan, construction, or the trades is a big plus.

  • You move fast, publish consistently, and are comfortable without a playbook.

What this role is not

  • Not a paid ads or demand gen role. Our growth comes from content, newsletters, and social proof. We’ll explore paid channels later.

  • Not a VP of Marketing. There’s no team to manage yet. If you’d rather set strategy and hand off execution, this isn’t the right fit today. If you build what works, you can grow the team around it.

Who we are

  • We’re a group of young New Yorkers who love working with people in home services and solving their biggest problems/challenges. Everyone here gets a huge amount of agency so while the founders keep the train on the tracks, the problems that get solved and the work that gets done each day are on everyone’s shoulders.

  • We work hard, in person. At a fast-growing company there’s always more work than capacity. The team typically puts in 60–80 hours a week and steps in when emergencies come up. Don’t expect to punch out at 5pm. By the same token, we treat everyone like adults: if something comes up in your life, the team steps in, and that goes both ways.

  • We take our work very seriously and ourselves not seriously at all. When people don’t have their headphones in shipping something, there’s a constant stream of banter. We are proud of the culture we’ve built together.
